Being located less than one degree south of the Equator, Bahía de Caraquez has outstanding weather year-round, the wet season weather is mostly sunny, and brings with it world-class waves the best surfing season for Ecuador is from December- May. This is the period when we get south swells that come from grand southern sea storms that roam the waters south of New Zealand all the way to Chile. The perfect swell is a south swell, that peels left (looking towards the shore) for about 150 yards. The valleys of the dry tropical reserve south of Bahia de Caraquez called  funnel the offshore winds perfectly toward El Pajonal beach break , making perfect conditions for surfers of all levels.

Also just south of Bahia de Caraquez we have amazing breaks that are known amongst the locals and throughout Ecuador which are Punta Bellaca (pointbreak-5 minutets south), Quebrada ( reef break 8 minutes south), Briceno and Canoa (15 minutes north). San Mateo (super long pointbreak-1 hour south) wind and swell conditions conspire to offer world class perfection. The waves average 2-8 ft, but can get up to 10 ft on the biggest swells. Long period ground swells arrive from a NW or SW direction and last between 3 and 4 days at a time. Manabi Ecuador offers endless amounts of soft peeling glassy waves with occasional barrels on uncrowded beaches  no rocks, no reef, no riptide,

Perfect for learning to surf!
